From Jail to $20M: The Rise of a Young Entrepreneur!
Now the founder of a private tech community...
Hey TechNerds,
It's Jas from The Tech Route!
The newsletter for your weekly tech breakdowns - Decoding your favorite tech businesses and entrepreneurs in under 3 mins.
Entrepreneur of the Week:
This is the story of Sam Parr…
From JAIL time to a net worth of over $20+ Million by age 32.
He’s the founder of a 2.5M+ subscriber newsletter.
Here’s the breakdown:
From 3 arrests in 3 weeks to $20M+ in the bank.
He was a born hustler:
Sold Itch Juice on the internet (Poison Ivy treatment)
Was the go to dealer for CDs in grade school
Made $1000/day selling hotdogs
But how did he make $20M+?
With the drive to prove his 8th-grade ex wrong.
He launched:
2.5M+ Sub newsletter (The Hustle)
Top 10 Entrepreneurship Podcast (My First Million Podcast)
300+ tech community (Join Hampton)
Here’s his story:
Sam a D1 runner at Belmont University…
Dove headfirst into the entrepreneurial world with:
Flipping hotdogs at “Southern Sam’s Hotdog Stand”.
and an online liquor store during his senior year.
Wanting to start an internet company, he dropped out…
Moving to San Francisco to chase his dream.
In the city, he stumbled upon Bunk, “the tinder for roommates”.
Sam joined the start-up as a co-founder.
Selling it within the next 10 months.
Then searching for his next big idea…
He found Hustle Con - Think Ted Talk for entrepreneurs.
After a cross-country motorcycle ride…
and a "thanks, but no thanks" from Ben Lerer at Thrillist Group 9 about The Hustle idea.
He flipped Hustle Con into a media powerhouse: The Hustle.
Snagged by Hubspot for a cool $20M+ in 2021. 💰
Over the next 2 years, Sam found My First Million podcast with Shaan Puri.
and schemed his next move…
Hampton: A highly vetted community for entrepreneurs.
But hold up, here's where it gets interesting…
While hustlin' at The Hustle, Sam had linked up with Joe Speiser and a few other founders.
Deep in the startup trenches, they:
Shared their problems
Brainstormed solutions
and helped each other out.
Almost like business therapy, diving into:
How to sell a company
Lay people off
Hire executives
and basically anything that couldn’t be Googled.
Fast forward to today…
Hampton is a tight-knit community for tech founders, CEO’s & entrepreneurs.
Giving access to:
Monthly core groups
Digital & in-person community
Speaker Series & Education
Exclusive perks and more
All with one goal in mind…
Craft the go-to community for high-growth founders.
Now home to 300+ founders & CEOs.
With the average acceptance rate of ~8%.
Including hotshots like Austin Rief, Patrick Campbell, Sahil Bloom and more.
